History
In 1975, Judge David Gertler and his son, M. H. 'Mike' Gertler, founded the law firm of Gertler & Gertler. Later, Rodney Vincent became a partner of the firm, and today Gertler, Gertler, Vincent & Plotkin, L.L.P, is a prominent New Orleans law firm in the field of toxic torts and products liability.
Legal Groundbreakers
In the state of Louisiana, the Gertler firm prosecuted and achieved success among the first asbestos personal injury suits, including mesothelioma and asbestosis claims, the first silicosis suits, and the first products liability suits against respirator manufacturers. GGV&P led a group of prominent Louisiana law firms that obtained a groundbreaking and unprecedented judgment against the tobacco industry which ordered these companies to establish a $591 million cessation program for the citizens of Louisiana.
